Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall…

You remember how it goes…
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the kings’ horses and all the kings’ men
Couldn’t put Humpty back together again.

But, the original version better describes today’s physician-hospital relations:
Threescore men (30) and threescore (30) more
Could not replace Humpty AS HE WAS BEFORE.

The same happens with our physician relationships. How many times have we fallen (no pun intended) short on building and sustaining strong physician relationships? Once a physician relationship is damaged, even scores of CEOs couldn’t rebuild it as strong as it was before! Great physician relations are like Humpty’s story; the stronger the wall, the greater their support/loyalty. Hopefully you’re inspecting your walls and finding them stronger than your competition! How can we be proactive?
Here’s what I know for certain.

Barriers to physician engagement and satisfaction are mostly around communication. A well-structure and effectively execution physician relations program can fix that issue and stop referral leakage that results from it.

Every physician satisfaction report I’ve ever read from the Advisory Board, to HealthLeaders, to Press Ganey, to the independent-organizational sponsored surveys all show the same thing. Our recent interactive poll of MGMA medical group leaders painted the same picture – loud and clear: 80%of physician dissatisfaction is related to a lack of communication.

You’re welcome; I just gave you 80% of the essential ingredients needed to fall-proof your walls to withstand the volatility we’re faced with today. It’s up to you to now to take action and soar past your competition

How effectively does your physician relations/retention program work today?

Are you showing measurable results in growth and retention? Are you absolutely confident that your key physicians and physician groups wouldn’t fall into the aforementioned 80% high-risk group? How do you know?

Sometimes we live in a state of denial. We often get calls from the healthiest organizations who just want a reality check of their Physician Liaison | Strategic Sales efforts. Listening objectively – and sharing that feedback transparently – is the first step. Our methodology for diagnosing the symptoms and prescribing the cure resulted in rapid improvement in physician engagement at MountainView Regional Medical Group, as just one example. You can read about it in MGMA’s article and the case study of results we achieved with MountainView.

Be proactive. Let us help! Start now, so you can “fall-proof” your 2018 physician relations program.

We have nearly 100 years of combined experience in building successful Physician Liaison | Strategic Sales Programs. We can assess your current program(s) for potential revitalization and relaunch opportunities, or launch a brand-new initiative for long-term results.

Still sitting on the wall? Check this out: Dayton Children’s PHR program tripled the  hospital’s referral base. And since growth leads to growth, they opened a beautiful new patient tower. They re-engaged us to refresh the liaison program and help them grow some more!  Click to read more from PHR Transforms In-House Liaison Program into Growth Engine.
